【 This Week in Himawari || Week 1 】

10/31/2025

I'm calling this week one update even though technically it's not my first week in this world. Technically, it's anywhere between 6-8 weeks in this world, but this is the first time I'm doing a weekly update, and thought it might be fun to do weekly updates to see how my world is changing, and what I'm doing in my world each week.

So, this week I finally created a nether hub route to the desert/coral reef that is about 6,0000-8000 blocks away. This is about roughly the closest coral reef and desert, although I think there's one that's technically a little bit closer, but it would only be closer by like 500 blocks, and the desert I went to was much larger. Since I wanted to go to the desert to get sand and coral... well, I chose the larger one.

The compass in the image to the left is where my spawn is located, and the desert is in the southwest. This is very zoomed out from chunk base. I did use chunk base to locate a desert temple close to the northern most part of the desert, which is where I wanted to put the nether portal because I thought it would be cool, haha.

I did raid the desert temple, and got the desert temple trim, and by doing the archeology in the temple I got like 4 diamonds in total after raiding a second desert temple that I flew over while exploring the desert. I also found a desert well, amazingly enough, and got a couple of shards from it. AND I finally got sea pickles. Oh my goodness, I've been wanting to get sea pickles and the wandering trader has not had them available.

I did the exploring earlier this week, and because I had an extra day off this weekend I went forward with the project of making the creeper farm. I used this design which I've used on other servers because it's fairly easy and doesn't require lighting up caves to work. I was considering doing a creeper farm underneath spawn because it's so handy to just constantly have that going, but I really didn't want to add any mods/data packs that allowed me to locate all the unlit caves because I have done that before and it's a pain despite how nice it is to constantly have gun powder available. However, this is a single player world, and I'm mostly just going to be using gun powder for rockets... I just... happen to use... a lot of rockets... Also, TNT.

I do need to go hunting for netherite. I miss being able to tell my silk touch pickaxe from my fortune one based on if it's netherite or not.

Back to the creeper farm... The farm itself is built, but I do want to make it a part of the world as like a building... tower... in the water using a design I've built for an ocean base before, and that part is not completed but I do have a bit of what it's going to look like done. It's a matter of gathering up that much sand. For the creeper farm, I needed some crimson wood and when I was chopping some of the trees in the nether the piglins killed a hoglin and I saw them do their silly little dance, too.

Since this week is Halloween I've also got a couple of pumpkin wearing mobs, which I've never experienced before. Same with the christmas present chests. I never seem to be playing Minecraft around the holidays to see these unique things happen.

Oh, the last thing I made was a silly little chicken coop that is... bigger... than I wanted it to be hahaha.

I've included some pictures below of my shenanigans, and what I've done so far with the creeper farm:

Buried Desert Temple

Brushing suspicious sand to reveal a diamond

Chest loot showing Copper Horse Armor

Piglins doing the victory dance in a Crimson Forest

Collection area of a creeper farm above the ocean. In a boat next to the collection area are two drowned wearing pumpkins.

Start of cylindrical tower to go around the creeper farm.
